Embassy Centennial Book Project


This past August Embassy Book Donation Project received a major boost as one Embassy after the other generously donated numerous publications to National Law Collection. The first Embassy to enrich collection in early July was Serbia. They were quickly followed by the Embassy of Belarus, the Embassy of Estonia, The Russian Embassy, the British Embassy, the Embassy of Ireland and at the end of August, Project received many donations from the Embassy of the Czech Republic. The Embassy of Serbia, through Mr. Sasa Obradovic , donated the following publications to Library Collection:

On August 1, 2013, Project welcomed H.E. Ambassador Elena Gritsenkofrom the Embassy of Belarus and counselor Mr. Andrei Luchenok. They generously donated a hard copy of the 2006 Constitution of Belarus in Belarusian as well as in English and four publications of the bulletin of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus from 2011 and 2012.

On August 6, Project welcomed the Embassy of Estonia in the Library. Mr. Agro Kangro Counsellor in charge of political, economic and consular affairs arranged to donate to Library the following eight publications:
Tallinn manual on the international law applicable to cyber warfare : prepared by the International Group of Experts at the Invitation of the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence, Schmitt M.N., Cambridge : Cambridge University Press, 2013
Project also received four journals from the Acta Societatis Martensis / Martensi Selts (Martens Society) from 2005 until 2010. In addition, Project received three more books, namely the Baltic yearbook of International Law (2012), Regime Change: from the democratic peace theories to Forcible Regime Change by Rein Müllerson and Illegal Annexation and State Continuity: The Case of the Incorporation of the Baltic States by the USSR by Lauri Mälksoo.
On August 23, Project welcomed Ms Sofia Sarenkova, Legal Adviser from the Embassy of Russia. She was accompanied by two colleagues MrAlexander Fedorinov, First Secretary of the Embassy, and Ms. Elena Perekotiy, Attache of the Embassy. The Russian Embassy donated 11 publications to our collection.
They include among others: Essays on philosophy of international lawby Professor S.Chernichenko, State Sovereignty in International Law by Professor A. Moiseev, Peaceful stellement on international disputes: contemporary issues by A.Abashidze, A.Solntsev, Law of International Organisations, a Course book edited by professors I.Blischenko and A.Abashidze, Regional systems of Human Rights Protection by Professor A.Abashidze and Case study on International Environmental Law by A.Solntsev.
Justice in the Modern World edited by Professor V.M.Lebedev and Member of the Russian Academy of Science T.Y.Khabrieva, collective monographs Legal Mechanisms of the Implementation of the Anti-Corruption Conventions edited by O.I.Tiunov and Corruption: Nature, Types, Counteraction edited by T.Y.Khabrieva, a collection of scientific articles APEC Summit: Legal Mechanisms of Regional Integration as well as the Russian Yearbook of International Law 2013.

On August 27, The Library welcomed H.E. Mary Whelan, Ambassador of the Ireland and legal attaché Mr. Eoghan McSwiney.
With regards to the publications, the Embassy of Ireland gratefully acknowledges the kind contribution of the Irish law publisher Round Hall, a part of Thompson Reuters, to this donation. The Library received the following titles:

On August 28, the British Delegation to the Centenary Ceremony, headed by Solicitor General Oliver Heald QC MP handed over the following publications to our Library:
  • The Scottish Legal System by R.M. White,
  • The Law in Northern Ireland by B. Dickson,
  • Walker & Walker’s English legal system by R. Ward & A.hktar
  • The Rule of Law by T. Bingham, British overseas territories law by S. Dickson. 
On August 29, Project welcomed Mr. Martin Brož, Legal Adviser of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in the Reading Room. He arranged 14 publications to be donated to Library. The titles of the books include:
