The prevention of deadly conflict is a global challenge for any nation, under present political economy. Geopolitics plays a pivotal role visibly or unnoticeably. Having consolidated via a multi-sector approach, preventive measures are to be defined carefully, to avoid deadly conflict, determining conflict analysis through root-causes of fundamental issues.
Therefore, Constitution-Making for a Pluralistic Society is imperative in many aspects. The main focus would be on Constitutionalism, Pluralism, Public Policy Process, Conflict Analysis, Psychological Warfare, and Constitution-Making under conflict scenarios - complying with international guidelines. Also, this lecture may bring a different thought with a comparative approach in relation to the conflict of Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lankan conflict continuously implicated with multidimensional issues; military, geopolitical, economic, constitutional, social and religious, state and non-state actors, humanitarian, environmental, and in particular, against the number one deadliest and ruthless Terror Organization in the world ….Etc.
About the speaker:
Prof. Chanaka Jayawardhana holds MPM (Master of Public Management) from School of Postgraduate Studies in Colombo - Sri Lanka, and obtained PgDCR (Post graduate Diploma in Conflict Resolution) with a Merit Pass from FGS (Faculty of Graduate Studies) - University of Colombo in Sri Lanka. Also, his exposure in “Military Studies” is at a very high range, having written many White Papers, Policy Papers and Academic Researches in Military Science. Adding further in combat operations, he has been awarded with military medals and appreciations for his gallantry.
He was enlisted in the Sri Lanka Air Force in 1989 in the GD/Pilot Branch, and subsequently obtained his commission in the branch of administration. After nearly 16 years of extensive military service, he joined with United Nations (UN) in 2006, and has worked for UN OCHA, UNDP – CADREP and finally with WHO (World Health Organization) as a National Consultant - who geared up fundamental initiatives for “Contingency Plan” in respect of humanitarian operations in Sri Lanka. Also, he has worked as Asst. Director (Outreach) in the SCOPP (Secretariat for Coordination of Peace Process - which was directly functioning under Presidential Secretariat).
Also, he worked in the position of Head of Office in the NIBM (National Institute of Business Management) - Southern Region. Further, he involved as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Ruhuna - Sri Lanka.
Attributable to his insight and team contribution towards strategic command posts in Sri Lanka, it was reached in favor of significant turning points in results. His functional role as a Management Consultant in the private sector expands in Strategic Management, Contingency Planning, ERP, Portfolio Management, HR & Finance, and Campaign Advisory. Presently, he is functioning as an International Management Consultant.
He has excelled in many sports (Cricket, Football, Basketball, Athletics, Tennis …Etc), and talents in music as a vocalist and a composer of Lyrics/Music.
