Cooperation in outer space exploration discussed in the Tavricheskiy

Drafting the CIS Convention on Multilateral Cooperation in Outer Space Exploration to begin in the first quarter 2014
In 2014, the IPA CIS Working Group will start drafting the draft of Convention on the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, according to the decision of the consultative meeting held on 2-3 October.
Parliamentarians, officials of national air and space agencies, academies of science, leading aerospace research centers and laboratories expressed interest in joining efforts in this sphere. The meeting decided to set up a working group for drafting the concept and the text of the new Convention, which will start work in early 2014.
Experts referred to the existing CIS-wide projects, such as common use of GLONASS navigation satellite system, remote sensing of the Earth, technical regulation and finding common approaches and standards in implementing space projects. The meeting stressed that satellite communications, joint response to emergency situations, and agricultural monitoring stand to benefit, as the cooperation gains momentum moving forward.
